Such a brave disclosure Andrea. As a mother of a son and grandson, I know how vulnerable it can be, and how easily we blame ourselves. Mothering is hard and holy work , we always do our very best, and I for one salute you for how much you care and for enduring all the heartache and uncertainty. Mothers are amazing!
Each time I read your posts your openness and profound honesty are deeply touching me!
You are doing a great work by analysing your feelings and decisions though at the time you needed to take them you just picked the best option available.
As a mother and a grandmother with a mostly sole responsibility I admit my own mistakes and things that I failed to provide which changed relationships within my family.
I am learning to forgive myself knowing that I did the best possible in my circumstances…
I believe that you also gave your best whole self to your loved ones- in yours!
All we need is to accept our own imperfections and forgive ourselves with love.
Thank you so much, Elena. Someone once told me “We all f—k up our kids, it’s just a matter of how much.” And another friend said that nothing matters as much as loving them. If they know they are loved every day, they’ll be OK.
